Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Level AWS API Gateway & Serverless Engineer to design, build, and support scalable API solutions while defining API governance. This is a hands-on technical leadership role responsible for delivering high-quality APIs and guiding engineering teams in building reliable, secure, and performant integrations using AWS services.
The ideal candidate is a strong individual contributor who leads by example—comfortable writing code, troubleshooting issues, and working in regulated environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain APIs using AWS API Gateway (REST – V1 and HTTP/WebSocket – V2)
- Build and deploy serverless applications using AWS Lambda and API Gateway integrations
- Lead day-to-day API development efforts ensuring code quality, performance, and reliability
- Develop API integrations with backend services including Lambda functions and HTTP endpoints
- Work hands-on with AWS tools including Management Console, AWS CLI, and SDKs
- Support development in environments both with and without SDK support using API Gateway V1 and V2 APIs
- Implement API security including authentication and authorization (IAM, API keys, JWT, etc.)
- Troubleshoot and resolve API performance issues, latency bottlenecks, and integration challenges
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automate API deployment and monitoring processes
- Establish and enforce best practices for API development, testing, and documentation
- Ensure compliance with data privacy, security, and regulatory requirements
Required Qualifications

- 7–10+ years of experience in software development or cloud engineering
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS API Gateway (V1 and V2)
- Proven experience building serverless applications using AWS Lambda
- Proficiency with AWS Management Console, AWS CLI, and AWS SDKs
- Experience developing RESTful APIs and working with HTTP-based integrations
- Strong programming skills (Python, Node.js, Java, or .NET)
- Experience implementing API security and access controls
- Solid understanding of distributed systems and cloud-native development
Nice to Have
- Experience working in regulated environments
- Knowledge of CI/CD tools and automation
- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills
