Role - Software Developer - -- MID level --
Location: LA/Hollywood, CA (100% onsite)
MOI: Virtual
Duration: 6-month contract possible extension but no guarentee
PR: $80.00/hr on C2C
Must have skills
MUST HAVE:
- Python (automation, scripting)
- C/C++ (embedded or system-level)
- ROS / ROS2 (this is a deal breaker skill)
- Debugging (hardware + software)

“Looking for a Python + C++ engineer with ROS2 experience who has worked on hardware-integrated systems (testbeds, robotics, or embedded environments) in an R&D or aerospace-like setup.”
Look for 4+ years of current experience with Python and C/C++. Must have ROS or ROS2 experience. They will use ROS to run the control system vs using it as a robotic arm per se. Aerospace or defense is preferred but not required.
This person will work use the software to work with the hardware. IE: The team they support troubleshoots heaters, vacuum chambers, etc. and they use the software to control it. This is an R&D facility so it is a very fast paced and rapid development environment. Someone coming from a pure manufacturing environment will not do well.

Blue Origin is seeking a skilled developer to support our Python/ROS2-based system utilizing COTS hardware. This dynamic role involves working at the intersection of software development and hardware integration in our innovative space technology environment.
Responsibilities
- Support development, provisioning, and checkout of Python/ROS2-based systems using COTS hardware
- Develop and update device drivers to ensure optimal system performance
- Implement provisioning process improvements through automation and scripting
- Conduct software checkout and troubleshooting on testbeds and hardware
- Contribute to system reliability and performance enhancements
Required Qualifications
- Proficiency in C/C++ (embedded/RTOS/Linux) and Python (tools/automation); strong experience with Git and collaborative development workflows.
- Experience with ROS/ROS2, instrumentation/control systems, driver/platform debugging, data acquisition/measurement theory, or debugging auto-generated code.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting and debugging skills
- Proficiency with scripting and automation tools
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Ansible and Bash
- Hardware/software integration experience
- Familiarity with EtherCAT and/or motor drivers
