Details :-
Think senior analyst, not engineer. They need someone strong in SQL, reporting, dashboards, Excel, and data validation who can keep the lights on, support users, troubleshoot issues, and maintain existing reporting processes. This is much closer to a Senior BI Analyst / Reporting Analyst than a Data Engineer or BI Architect.
A strong understanding of the Google ecosystem is important, particularly BigQuery, Looker Studio, Google Sheets, and Google Workspace tools.
The candidate should be comfortable reviewing and making minor updates to Python scripts, but they do not need to be a software engineer or advanced Python developer.
Experience supporting business users, investigating data discrepancies, validating reports, and maintaining dashboards is more important than building new data platforms or developing complex applications from scratch. The ideal candidate is a hands-on analyst who can independently support reporting operations and ensure data accuracy.
Business Intelligence Support
Project Objective and Summary The primary objective of this role is to provide hands-on Business Intelligence (BI) and reporting support to maintain established reports, dashboards, and automated workflows. The contractor will ensure business continuity by leveraging proficiency in SQL, Google BigQuery, Excel/Power Pivot, and Looker Studio, supported by a working knowledge of Google Sheets, Python, and Google Apps Script for troubleshooting.
Scope of Responsibilities and Tasks The contractor will be responsible for maintaining existing operations across the following key areas:
- Database & Query Management: Apply intermediate SQL proficiency to understand, modify, and troubleshoot existing reporting queries, including the use of joins, Common Table Expressions (CTEs), aggregations, window functions, and date logic. Work hands-on within Google BigQuery to maintain reporting datasets, tables, and views, specifically investigating data availability and scheduled refresh issues.
- Reporting & Dashboard Maintenance: Maintain existing dashboards in Looker Studio / Google Data Studio, actively troubleshooting BigQuery connections, calculated fields, filters, aggregations, and refresh issues. Maintain large reporting workbooks in Advanced Excel using PivotTables, lookup functions, data cleaning techniques, and SUMIFS/COUNTIFS. Maintain existing Power Pivot / Excel Data Models, including table relationships and calculated measures, resolving any calculation or refresh errors. Maintain Google Sheets reporting, troubleshooting data connections and formulas.
- Script Maintenance & Automation: Run, understand, and apply minor fixes to existing Python data preparation and reporting scripts (using pandas, Jupyter Notebooks, and Google Colab). Understand and make minor updates to existing Google Apps Scripts, utilizing execution logs and scheduled triggers to investigate common failures and escalate unresolved issues.
- Data Preparation & Quality Assurance: Combine multiple data sources, maintain product/SKU mappings, actively identify duplicates or missing mappings, and reconcile sales and units between source data and finalized reports.
- Business Reporting & Analysis: Analyze metrics such as sales, units, average selling price, market share, and promotional performance utilizing YoY, YTD, and rolling-period comparisons.
- AI-Assisted Productivity: Responsibly utilize company-approved AI tools, specifically Google Gemini, for troubleshooting, drafting minor SQL/script updates, documenting processes, and summarizing reports. The contractor must independently verify all AI-generated outputs and strictly adhere to company data privacy and security policies.
- The contractor will play a critical role in supporting an ongoing implementation project and would be expected to test data mappings, verify ingested data against transmitted data, validate reports, and work closely with stakeholders to proactively identify and report any data issues.
